The practice involves physical postures, conscious breathing, touch, trust, communication and play. The practice of Partner Yoga is not confined to the studio or yoga mat. Rather, this practice permeates every aspect of your life. Unlike partner-assisted yoga, where one person is doing the yoga posture and another is assisting, Partner Yoga postures are mutually beneficial. Partner yoga is meant to be playful and fun. We will approach this workshop with a sense of humor and creativity.

BACKBENDING WORKSHOP SATURDAY, APRIL 26, 2008 1:30 - 3:30 PM COST $35 Rodney Yee writes; "The habitual posture for most of us is somewhat bent forward from our everyday work and from our emotional and physical protecting. However, although this habitual posture may feel natural to you, it is also quite detrimental to your body's functioning and to the vulnerability and receptivity of your heart. Therefore, backbends are the yoga poses that will re-balance your spine, shoulders, neck and pelvis." This yoga workshop will consist of asana practice focused on backbend postures and a guided meditation. Backbends are invigorating poses that serve to open the chest and heart center of the body. They connect yoga practitioners with courage, as it requires opening an area of the body we typically protect.
Backbends are energizing and when performing backbend asanas, the spirit is awakened and our inner brightness shines more fully, just like flowers blossoming in spring.
