The word yoga means 'to yoke', to join together, to bind. The science of yoga is dedicated to the integration of body, mind and soul. The primary aim of yoga is to restore the mind to simplicity and peace and free it from confusion and distress. Unlike other forms of exercise, yoga gently rejuvenates the body. By restoring the body, yoga frees the mind from the negative feelings caused by the fast pace of modern life. It helps you to overcome all obstacles on the path to perfect health and spiritual contentment. Yoga asanas, or postures, tone the whole body. They strengthen bones and muscles, correct posture, improve breathing and increase your energy. Everyone desires more energy. YOGA IS FOR EVERYONE. PRANA....The energy body. Prana is the great life force of the universe. Yoga is the union of the individual self with the universal self. There is a witness inside all of us that we call the Seer or the Soul. "Prana is usually translated as breath. It is the breath of life of all beings in the universe. They are born through it and live by it, and when they die their individual breath dissolves into the cosmic breath." B.K.S Iyengar, Light On Life Prana Yoga is Hatha yoga that offers the alignment based practice of the asanas (postures) according to B.K.S. Iyengar to strengthen the physical body. This physical well-being strengthens and calms the mind. "Having strengthened our known selves through asana, we are now adding a second string to our bow through the culture of breath. By doing so, we generate more energy." B.K.S. Iyengar |
